The junior segment of the golf industry is currently white-hot, and for good reason. Up until recently parents have been giving their hand-me-down clubs to their children after "cutting-down" the shafts to the desired playing length. This is possibly the worst thing the parent can do for their child, however well intentioned the thought. The reason being that the cut-down shafts will be too stiff for the child and the headweight of the adult's clubs will be too great. As a result the child will develop poor swing habits right from the start in their attempt to swing this resulting big lumber.
